Winding Down

DAY 24

Winding Down

the pink sunset threaded itself through tree tops
and terraced roof scapes on the drive home
this  was too good to leave
she always felt sad when she had to leave
somewhere beautiful and fly to elsewhere

she had wrapped herself so tightly around him
for the past month she was dreading the separation
mind ticking over trying to think of ways to keep him with her
nip tucks and folds to fit him into her life
but like any holiday romance  the inevitable looms
suitcases are packed and she will fly away with warm memories
a little heart ache and sadness; she will miss him

  1. ah this begs for more story....and true, holiday romance does not always carry over well to reality...smiles.

  2. I think many of us can identify with those holiday romances. You've chosen such good active verbs which give so much life to this poem.

  3. Wow... I want a part 2, too. I especially like the second stanza.
