Shakespearean Sonnet

Day 14

abab cdcd efef gg iambic pentameter

you came to me when i needed you most
it was destined - i knew you would come
to quell the wind to protect me from frost
to warm me with your kind love and then some

you took a big chance and trusted me too
i jumped right in and took you by the hand
together we played and talked about you
and me and imagined our music band

we pretended it was all a big joke
we shared so many experiences
we thought we must be related to folk
who were crazed and wrought with seriousness

and sadly we knew the day would come soon
when i would be called to fly to the moon

  1. A melancholy, yet positive and affirmative anticipation of a "goodbye" and a "thank you". The moon drawing the senses and emotions as it calls you home. Quite lovely.

(I must keep a copy for future reference too as it is one of the best "dear john" letter I've read!)

    That was a joke ;o)
