Maundy Thursday is the celebration of The Last Supper and is the first day of Christ's Passion.
FOR PETER
There was something ominous
in the air that night
The heightened bonhomie
between them all could be perceived
as a little strained
As He broke bread a few particles
seemed to be suspended
fleetingly floating in mid air
before they dropped like
snow flakes to the floor
Beads of sweat suddenly
trickled down Iscariot's neck
A frisson of terror washed over him
Leaving the room briefly
he found it difficult to walk
as if weighted down with leaden sandals
He was moving in slow motion
trying desperately to ignore
the hallucinatory vision
A hanging noose from a tree
'Too late. too late now',
the breeze whispered
in his ear
He steeled himself
to his resolve
Quickly he composed himself
with comforting thoughts of
tinkling silver
Moving his lips into position
preparing for the event
All sin is a mystery. In every way the treachery of Judas would seem to be the most mysterious and unintelligible of sins.
