Seamus Heaney 1939-2013

55 words

an irish poet has died
stop the clocks

unlike thomas hardy
he is not pretending
to be dead

lying down flat in the fields
amongst the dainty shins
of the sheep

it was a fortunate wind
that blew you here seamus

now you  are star dust
sky dancing cloud hopping
clutching your leprechaun
green passport

  2. I love your farewell to Heaney, especially the comparison to Yeats. The second and third stanzas are particularly poignant for me.

My 55 is on the same theme, if you would like to take a look.
