Form by David James

bar bells shake the ceiling
new tenants muscle bound thick
fly the girls in every night
shake rattle and roll on ice
dropping diamonds like apple peelings

china after five nights becomes enraged
bangs on the door with all his might
quarrel with f words full flight spice
sleazy spiv boys with fists like bricks
threaten bespectacled pencil pusher defying his age

china does his crazy and delivers with clout
doors start slamming not very nice
sleaze boy goes beserk ranting about pricks
china holds his own with rhetoric so bright
he is a guy, has seen it all been around and about

all is quiet now could cut the air with a knife
war has been declared time to bring out the bag of tricks
sleaze bags sniff the wind come a crawlin' o so contrite
apologizing bowing with hands together in prayer - at least twice
old china when pushed is scary alright but not a patch on his dear little wife

  1. good for china standing his ground to the muscle heads...glad they backed down and learned a bit of respect maybe for those not like them...cool story telling through the form...

  2. What a picture you paint with these wonderful lines - those big, tough men brought to heel by the women in their lives.

    1. I am not sure ( and do not want to know) the activities of the visiting women upstairs..apart from the fact that the earth may be moving for them but it is also my ceiling.

  3. Wow - it was like walking into a movie in mid-scene. Very effective use of the form - sharp, stiletto, and sexy. Very cool.

  4. My goodness, so this happened just before your wrote it? No I guess you do not live in a nice quiet suburban place! Poetic diary is a neat idea.

  6. Loved the detail with which you described the characters in this poem! Definitely a DANGEROUS situation here with so many questionable people about! Well described.

    Thanks for visiting Poetry Jam!!

  7. i really like --

    dropping diamonds like apple peelings
threaten bespectacled pencil pusher defying his age

and i also like how you have the rhyme scheme at the end, but you also created some repeats of words in the begining
