Afternoon Walk

i walk past marisa' s house
she has not lived there for many years
and nothing  has changed i steal a sprig
of yesterday today and tomorrow
pondering the  realtionship of the old
testament to the new testament
trying to remind myself
to buy those artichokes and leeks
for dinner tonight resisting the temptation
of that antique ring winking at me with
little diamond hand waves  which i cannot
afford feeling somewhat disturbed
that unwittingly i may have committed
heresy for my entire life

  1. Intriguing little poem that says a lot..if you covet something that's one thing, if it's out there for all to take, that is different..Marisa wouldn't mind at all..

  2. I love the flow of this poem from one thought to another. Shows well the workings of the mind sometimes. Enjoyed the ending - the concern about heresy!

  4. So good, Cressida. It read a bit like a stream-of-consciousness poem, how the mind entrains one consideration after another, and you've used enjambment to help create that effect. I esp. like the sprig of yesterday, today and tomorrow!
