Marianne
Leonard Cohen and Places
meeting George and Charmian
was truly inspirational for you
they drank lived worked fought harder
than anyone you had ever met
it was always 4 am over there
the demi monde never sleep
no tea and oranges all the way
from China just retsina and ouzou
firing your gullet
nobody was anybodys wife
and a raincoat chewed by the goats
was never worn but used
to collect olives strewn
on the ground
the nordic blond wrapped
in a skimpy towel
in front of your typewriter
did not go down well
with the sisters of mercy
nor me
being stuck in school
it should have been me
Leonard
so long Marianne
nd this was just for starters...
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
it should have been me...ha...interesting story telling...i like what you chose to include...the collection of olives..and pairing that with now one being a wife...interesting in how you bring out the relationship...smiles.
ReplyDeleteSmiles back:)
Deleteit was always 4 am over there...this is cool and smiling at the raincoat, chewed by goats but still used as well... great capture of the atmosphere and emotions
ReplyDeleteThanks Claudia.
DeleteThis is truly priceless...I just love how you worked in so many titles of Leonard Cohen songs into this. I chuckled out loud here when I read:
