Pulling Wings

just as I think
i've finally escaped

ecstatic at seeing
light at the end
of the tunnel

enraptured
at the thought of release

time to enjoy spring
and all the things
that make me effervescent

smile and tingle
with sultry summer
just around the corner

having crushed
and decimated me to mush pulp

you then sing the siren song again
with deft fingers pressing those
buttons

pulling me back
just as my torn wings are emerging

you are never going
to let me go are you?

not while
I'm still showing signs of life

  1. Yikes! Sounds like imprisonment....hope snatched each time at the very last second. The intensity carried me all the way through to the heart-breaking end. nice writing.

  4. Wow, there is a sense of desperation, as Brian points out. That inability to escape...sometimes what's holding us back is ourselves, isn't it?
