Les Liaisons Dangereuses
sometimes life may seem a little quiet
gazing at the ocean and sunsets
in cool spring breeze nippy weather
sometimes stealing sprigs of yesterday today and tomorrow
from rain drenched boughs on walks around the burbs
may seem a little dull and then one may entertain thoughts
thoughts of swirl and whirl in foreign exotic exciting locale
and then one remembers something like this
'Les Liaisons Dangereuses'
the quintessential quadrupled French knife twist topped with
inverted overted perverted introverted extroverted
somersaulting rollicking sinister sexual politiking
and thinks
'not for this little black duck'
geraniums in pots
big squeezes
soft pecks
chest nuzzles
fur rugs
long clean shiny hair
giggles
cozy's music
specs
flowers
swimming
swimming under the moon
swimming with floating flowers
hats
cats
cats in hats
floral painted toe nails
twinings tea
ice cream in coffee
vanilla
pavlovas
English
fish and chips
mojitos
boats
seaweed
shells
sarongs
sleeping
sleeping soundly
English
waking with a smile
waking to a smile
lace curtains
linen hankies
poetry
tears in movies
tears in books
tears in poetry
allemandes
gavottes
poetry written
poetry not written
in English
washing dishes
in a ceramic bowl
washing clothes
in a river
is a better option
by far
by far and wide
by far out
by going too far
by not going far
by not going far enough
by not going too far
by anything at all

dang that 3rd stanza is a ripper....like how you mix up the form through out as well...after the 3rd its pace increases drasticly with the clipped stanzas....your close gave me a chuckle...
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good write. I love the rapidness that occurs automatically when string words or short phrases together down the page- really a great ride there- thanks, again, you did this very well
ReplyDeletei agree with bri on the third stanza - my mouth dropped open when i came to it and didn't close it again until i realized somewhere along the lace curtains, linen hankies...wow - i like
ReplyDeleteThanks all...I'm glad you picked up on the acceleration process Brian. It is one of my very few poems that is meant to be read out loud.
ReplyDeleteYes, the clipped format works very well for you, and - unusually, I think, for a poem with ultra-short lines - it well repays rereading. Impressive.
