There is no safety in Beige

a little ray of sunshine
calls
serrated edged and pointed
all set to carve her up

you'll never find her
anyway
she has camouflaged herself
into the beige herd

ten hours later
bravado reduced to a
quivering blancmange
she serves herself up
with an apple wedged
between her teeth
on a silver platter

and with luck
he will probably
toss the tray
on to the floor
and she will slither
over the tiles down
the drain hole into oblivion

  1. ugh....the feeling i get in reading this is of being unwanted...at least beyond the conquest...

  2. Wow, this is a powerful write. Love the imagery throughout and the cold hope of that final stanza.

  3. Disturbing--almost haunting, imagery. Very good writing on a situation I can only identify with too much.

  4. Love the cutting words laced throughout the write. Curious as to your actual muse, as there are a number of interpretations racing through my mind. Well done!
