Corner Turned

he talked of
an iceberg
tall and formidable
a vast mass set adrift
floating silently
alone
in dark blue blue and orange
to the thin whine of the whales

haunting
doomed to dissipate
and melt into nothingness
to disappear
and not leave a trace

this could be me
she thought
and wondered
why

why she was smiling
not phased
in the slightest
sipping yet another
soupcon of port

    1. Yep, you have to be a mind reader to understand my poems or super sympatico. You come close sometimes Mr. Miller:)

  3. At the rate the Arctic ice currentl is melting, the fellow in this poem is really talking about the end of the world -- which no one actually does, of course! Just act natural. Maybe it will go away.

Or perhaps that should be "the whine of the thinning whales"?

Imagine my disappointment when she was still in port while the occasion called for something stronger and more appropriate -- on the rocks!
